Malaga Park

In the heart of the city is the Parque de Málaga. A unique place for its great variety of subtropical plants, open space condition, remarkable buildings adjacent to its northern part,  fountains and its statues, among other attractions.

It has its origins in the expansion of the port that the then president of the Council of Ministers, the Malaga politician Cánovas del Castillo, promoted, giving part of these lands gained to the sea for use as a park, receiving the city in 1897.

It is divided into two parts, the southern zone, which has two 10 meter wide walks on both sides, highlighting the central part that has a varied and profuse vegetation; and the north zone, in which several notable adjacent buildings can be observed.

Among these buildings are the City Hall of Malaga, the Bank of Spain, the former post office, now the location of the Rector's Office of the University of Malaga, and the Jardinero's House.
